Ranikhet is a picturesque hill resort which when translated in English mean ‘The Queens Field’ and has been named after the wife of Sudhar Deve who was a ruler during 12th century. It provides various glimpses of the 10th century and even the rule of the British through KRC Museum.
The museum displays memorabilia from the war that the Kumaon Regiment has fought, India.
Dunagiri: A 364 step 12th century Durga Temple and further 2 km drive will take one to Pandu Kholi which is a picnic spot. Another is Dwarahat which is located along the Karnaprayag Highway and has 10th and 12th century temple complexes.
