
Pushkar is located 15 kms towards the north west of Ajmer. Pushkar is believed to have come into existence when Lord Brahma the creator of Universe dropped his lotus flower from his hand on to earth. The petals landed at three spots and water magically appeared at those places amidst desert forming three beautiful lakes.

Climate: The best time to visit Pushkar is between the months of October and May. The maximum temperature during summer is about 37.7° C and the minimum temperature is 23.3° C. The maximum temperature during winter is 15.5° C and minimum is 3.7° C.
How to reach:
By Train: Regular and frequent trains are available from Delhi. Major cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Bangalore are connected with Pushkar.
By Air: The nearest airport from Pushkar is located in Jaipur.

Pushkar Fair:
- It is a colorful and lively fair which is held every year on Kartik Purnima.It is a 9 day event and is the most magnificent animal fair in the entire world.
- The fair has religious importance as well and piligrims from thousands of miles come to attend the fair.
- Hundreds of animals are traded during this fair.
- Traditionally dressed villagers and folk musicians are the life of the fair.
- Horse race and camel race along with other cultural events are organized during these days which keep the atmosphere lively.
- During the night time hundreds of small oil lamps are lit on green leaves and are floated on the lake after the Puja.This entire thing is known as deepdan. At that time entire lake is illuminated in the gleam of the lights.
