Picnic Spots in Delhi
Delhi being the capital of India is covered with many day picnic spots. There are ample numbers of parks, gardens. Amusement parks, water parks lakes etc. People from every area of Delhi find these picnic spots easily accessible and within reach.
One goes out with large groups of family together to enjoy lunch and also play games along with the children. Children especially are really fond of the amusement parks and the boat ride in lakes around. In today’s time picnic spots are becoming really famous especially among large families. It is the best way to have a big get together and that too at no cost or very less expense. In the evening time people generally go out with their families to amusement parks to enjoy or even to lake side parks to enjoy the cool breeze.
Ajmal Khan Park
This park is situated in west Delhi in Karol Bagh covering a land of over 5 acres. This park is the best in the evening with its musical fountains which are really nice and refreshing.
Buddha Jayanti Park
This park was built on the 2,500th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. It is a very big park and is filled with greenery and flowers. It serves as the best picnic spot.
Children’s Park
This is the oldest park and the most famous one in Delhi. It’s very near to India Gate and is the best place for children of all age groups. Many picnics by schools are conducted in this park. Children can have fun on the swings and there is also a small aquarium that the children can enjoy watching fishes.
Deer Park
Deer park is the biggest park in the South Delhi region. Many walkers and joggers are seen in the park in morning as well as the evening. It also has the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association near it. There is also a small but deep pond in the park.
India Gate Lawns
The lawns of the India Gate are spread over acres of land and are the main tourist attraction in Delhi. It is the place where we see the names of all the freedom fighters of India carved on the walls of India Gate, with AMAR JYOTI lit in the center of the Building. These lawns are the best picnic spot no matter what time of the day. It’s a good place during winters in the day time and during night in summers it’s a good place for having your home-made dinner. Along with the greenery one can also enjoy by having ice-cream from the numerous ice-cream vendors standing in a row.
Kalindi Kunj
The Kalindi Kunj Park is near Noida. It has musical fountains and brilliant lights at night time. It also has many eating outlets so that everyone can enjoy seating beside the fountains.
Lodi Gardens
The Lodhi gardens are the best place for morning walkers and joggers. It is filled with greenery and big trees to give shelter from the sun. There are good seating arrangements for those tired from the morning walk. The nearest place is the Khan Market which is also famous.
Mughal Gardens
The Mughal gardens are generally not open all year round to the public but only in the month of February and March to see the flowers blossom in the spring season. This garden is in the premises of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Nehru Park
This Park is named after the first Prime Minister of India – Pt. Jawahar lal Nehru. This park lies very close to the embassy area near the Asoka Hotel, Chanakyapuri. It covers many acres of land and is the best place to hold family get together and day time picnics.
Rose Gardens
There are 2 Rose Gardens in Delhi. One is in Hauz Khas and is filled with all color of roses and is the best place for a refreshing walk in morning. It’s beauty to watch the roses bloom. The other one is in the embassy area in Chanakyapuri. Though it is a restricted area but still one can enjoy the view of lovely roses.

Badhkal Lake
This is a very popular picnic spot. Its beside the Badhkal Lake and is famous for it’s water sports. One can simply sit near the lake area and enjoy the view of the lovely water.
Suraj Kund
Surajkund is famous for its yearly crafts mela. This mela takes place every year mostly in the month of February. There are many huts for day spending and one can also enjoy boating.
