Binsar

Situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters is the impressive and majestic Himalayan destination of Binsar. Offering a scenic beauty of high ranges of Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Shivling and Panchchuli it is a quite place surrounded entirely by rich and wild flora and fauna.
It served as the capital under the rule of Chand Rajas ruling in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.
Surrounded by abundant garlands of alpine flora, ferns, hanging moss and many other species of wild flowers, it is also one of the favorite trekking spots attracting tourists from all over the world.
Binsar is 95 kms from Nainital and 33 km north of the Almora town of Uttaranchal state in India. It is one of the most sort after and acclaimed hill resorts in the Kumaon Himalayas far far away from the maddening city crowd. Besides these the other nearby places to visit includes

- People in love with historical places must make it a point to visit Katarmal as it shelters the Sun Temple built by Katyuri Rajas.
- Housing one of the famous 12 jyotirlings found in India is the Jageshwar temple. Its also famous for its craftsmanship and is situated in the thick deodar woods.
Binsar is well connected by roads to all prominent towns - Almora Nainital & Haldwani and the nearest railhead is Kathgodam, 116 kms.
